How to play like Blind Blake.

 You got to Blake it...

Jim Bruce, guitarist with Acoustic Blues Travellers maintains that there is a particular style associated with Blake's playing.

It can't be written down - it's mostly a feeling that comes from a complex combination of dexterity and subtle damping with both hands.

"It's very tough to get this sound - even after you get the thumb rolls, the strings tend to buzz because everything is moving so fast."

Jim's new series of video clips in flash format are available for download, starting with 'That'll Never Happen No More'. Thought you could play that? Take another look at the 10 minute preview clip here.

"Everyone has a version of WCB and some of these are complex and a tribute to the guitarist. Fact remains that I haven't heard ANYONE play it the same as Blake."
You will find some surprises in the detail of this very detailed video clip and is for that rare, dedicated guitarist who wants to play it like it was, who is willing to spend the necessary hours to perfect this sound.
